Oaxaca is one of the most unique cities in Mexico. It is an ideal location for language immersion and exploring the pre-Hispanic past of the area.  Spanish is taught at the Facultad de Idiomas, the prestigious language department of the University of Oaxaca established in 1827.  University facilities are located in the historic center of Oaxaca and are only a few blocks south of the famous Zócalo, or central plaza.

Students will fly into Oaxaca with UW Parkside Professor Sarah Pina who will help orient you to the city and the program.  After you have gotten settled into a professional homestay program, the Oaxaca team will provide you with two weeks of valuable lessons, memorable cultural experiences and new adventures!
