Paris MetroSpringtime in Paris!

Course Goals:
The main goals of this 8 days study abroad experience in Paris are 3 fold: 
  • To explore a worldwide known city: Paris is a city exceptionally rich in architecture, arts, monuments, mythical places, and more…
  • To experience as much as possible part of daily life of Parisians and French people by navigating through Paris, taking the metro, sitting at terraces & watching people, going to the fresh market, and more …
  • To gain an understanding of the French culture & civilization.
Program Description:
Part 1: 6 class sessions on campus prior to leaving for Paris
  • 12:00-1:30 Feb 2, Feb 9, Feb 16, Feb 23, March 1, Mar 8 
Part 2: 8 full days to discover and experience the city and life in the city.

Program Includes Airfare, Lodging, Insurance and some meals as well as these cultural activities:
  • Le Louvre Art Museum visit
  • Le Jardin des Tuileries visit
  • Walking the Champs Elysees
  • Place de la Concorde
  • Seine River boat ride
  • Eiffel Tower
  • Paris by night Tour & Moulin Rouge
  • Basilique du Sacre Coeur
  • Montmartre visit
  • The Catacombs (beneath the city)
  • Gourmet French Dining Experience
  • Much More!!!
Lodging:
Students will stay at the MIJE Youth Hostel Maisons Internationales de la Jeunesse et des Etudiants]  https://www.mije.com/auberge-jeunesse-paris
in central Paris.  They will share a bedroom with several students from our group (women & men are separated). They will eat meals either at the MIJE restaurant on site during an excursion, or on their own while touring a specific area of the city in small groups.  Airfare, lodging and some meals are included in program fee.
 

Financial Assistance: 

  • If you are a resident of the State of Wisconsin with a GPA of 2.5 or higher, you may be eligible for a $750 grant for this program.


Program participants of this study abroad program are expected to be capable of:

  • Carrying own luggage
  • Walking more than 5-6 miles in a day
  • Mounting staircases
  • Sharing lodging accommodation
  • Taking care of own health/medical needs
  • Locating own meals (restaurants, groceries)
  • Respectfully adapting to new foods & traditions
  • Navigating through a foreign city independently and using public transportation resources
  • Adhering to rules & safety guidelines
  • Attending programmed activities at varying hours throughout the day
  • Respectfully adapting to local behavior/social practices (dress & appropriate language)
  • Communicating issues & concerns to group coordinator
  • Addressing others with respect & dignity
  • Adapting to the demands of group travel (limited independence & alone time).

Applicants are required to write a 2 page essay regarding your motivation to participate in this academic program.
