Mobile Integrated Systems & Robotics for Environmental Monitoring International Summer Universitygermany map

This International Summer University is a unique program focusing on the development of a smartphone app that will be used to monitor water quality.  This 2-week innovative course is hosted by Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences in Wolfenbuttel Germany.  Students work with an interdisciplinary team of Biology and Computer Science students to develop, refine and test a mobile app that will aid in assessing water quality.

Participants will become acquainted with techniques to collect and evaluate data sets under field conditions in local lake waters.  Using the newly designed app, the student group will be able to evaluate and predict eutrophication status in lake waters. They will get acquainted with bioremediation concepts and the role of monitoring options.

Also included in the program is a German language and cultural component.  Students will gain insight into German history, culture and language.  The region Braunschweig / Wolfenbuettel will lead you back to the Middle Ages.
