Academic Choices

Academic Fit

It is important for you to find a study abroad program which offers courses that will fit into your academic program. Courses are pre-approved by academic departments before you travel.  Make sure you discuss the transferability of courses with your Academic Advisor.  This will help assure that, with a passing grade, your efforts will transfer into Parkside.

With careful planning study abroad can offer amazing opportunities without delaying your graduation. Students who plan early have the easiest time fitting international courses into their academic program.  General education courses and electives are often the most flexible options – if possible, save them for study abroad!  It is never too early to make an appointment with the Study Abroad Office.  Students applying late in their academic program should look closely at Faculty-Led programs or opportunities in English-speaking nations. As you may guess, non-English speaking countries usually offer fewer courses taught in English.
Program admission criteria (including G.P.A.) varies depending upon the program. Make sure to check all program requirements.
